You may have many files with similar names and you have to do complex searches to find what you need every time. However, this is quite tedious and can make the search process difficult. Don't worry, though. You can make your life easier by adding descriptions to files and folders in Google Drive. This will make it much easier to differentiate and find them.
How descriptions help in Google Drive
You can add descriptions to both files and folders in Google Drive. Using descriptions, you can describe an image, the contents of a folder, say what a video , and more.

Since there may be many images or documents with similar names, a unique description for each item could make finding the right file easier.
You can search for a word or phrase in the descriptions and you'll see that item appear in your Google Drive search results.

How to add descriptions to folders and files in Google Drive?
Select an item in Google Drive, on the web, to add a description of its contents. Then, click the “View details” icon (a lowercase “i”) in the top right, or right-click the item and select “View details.”
A sidebar will open on the right side. Make sure the “Details” tab is selected at the top. Scroll down to the bottom of the details for item until you see the “Add description” field.
Click the pencil icon to the right of the field. When the text box opens, type the description you want for that Google Drive file or folder.
You can press Enter or Return or simply click outside the text. The description will be saved automatically.
You can close the sidebar using the X in the top right.
Then, simply reopen the sidebar with “View Details” to see an item’s description or edit it.

How to search Google Drive using descriptions?
Once you add a description to an item in Google Drive, it becomes easier to find. When you use the “Search Drive” box at the top, enter a word or phrase from your description to find that item more easily , or at least narrow down the results further and make the job easier.
