Microsoft has released a new Office Insider update to iOS as the company begins testing new features before releasing them to the public later this month.
Now in version 2.18 for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, this latest Office Insider update is a preview of the October 2018 feature update and includes three different new features.
First of all, there’s a new option to import and edit icons in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Starting with this update, Microsoft is allowing customers to “use icons to add visual impact to their document by importing and editing one or more of our 500+ icons.”.
If you use PowerPoint, there's more for you in this update. Microsoft has added new printing options, and you can configure exactly what you want to print, including slides with notes, multiple slides on a page, and full-page slides.
Last but not least, there are new features for Outlook as well. You can now search for a shared calendar from Outlook and open it directly on your iPhone.
Microsoft releases updates for Office on iOS every month as part of the Office Insider program, and this allows the company to remain committed to mobile devices regardless of platform.
With Office Mobile apps leaving Windows, Microsoft wants to focus entirely on Android and iOS, and these monthly improvements are obviously playing a key role. The company has already expressed its intention to align the mobile apps with the desktop ones, so major feature updates will be released in subsequent updates.
