The fight between Microsoft and Google continues, this time with a move by the latter, with which it tries to convert more customers looking for a more affordable productivity suite.
Microsoft has been heavily promoting Office 365 for the past two years and has gained a large share of the online document editing market. Google , on the other hand, wants to get in on the action and is making aggressive marketing moves, targeting existing Microsoft customers with special offers.
SFGate reports that a new Google Docs ad campaign is offering companies and governments currently using Office 365 the chance to move to it without paying a single euro until their Microsoft subscription expires.
That is, if your company has a Microsoft Office contract for two more years, then you can move to Google for Work without paying anything for the next 24 months. Then you can negotiate special offers that Google plans to have, keeping it at least at the same price as Microsoft's Office 365.
For now, Google's new offer is limited to the United States and will last six months, but according to the aforementioned source, the company plans to bring it to other countries in the coming weeks.
Keep in mind, however, that if your company (or organization) has more than 3,000 users, you will not be able to take advantage of the above offer (obviously it does not benefit Google) but even so, you can certainly make a good deal with it with so many group users since it is estimated that Google will reduce your costs by $360,000 (320,000 euros) per year in the event that a company with 3,000 employees switches from Office 365 to its own services.
Obviously, Microsoft will not sit idly by in the face of all this aggressive Google policy, so we expect to see a counteroffer from it soon.
