The idea of using hydrogen fuel cells in batteries isn't new, but it looks like a British company by the name of Intelligent Energy has made it a reality.
The company recently revealed that it has built a miniature hydrogen fuel cell battery and placed it in a prototype iPhone 6.
According to the initial tests it appears that the iPhone 6 managed to operate for a week without charging.
iPhone owners know very well that its battery remains charged with difficulty for two days, so imagine that the new one charges once a week, which is truly impressive.
To such an extent that the company has attracted Apple’s attention.
Although Intelligent Energy made no comment regarding a possible collaboration with Apple, the company's CEO Henri Winand said:
“As far as we know, this has never been done before. We have managed to build a fuel cell that is so thin it fits within the existing framework without modifications while maintaining the rechargeable battery. It is a significant step.”
