A crowdfunding campaign for a razor whose US creators claim it can remove facial hair with a laser beam has been suspended from Kickstarter.
The device has attracted over $4 million in funding – but reportedly has no specific operating model.
Backers received an email from Kickstarter stating that the Laser Razor violated the rule requiring original natural products to be offered as rewards.
Now the razor has been relisted for funding on Indiegogo.
The gadget, which comes from a California-based company called Skarp Technologies, raised nearly $40,000 in its first four hours on the rival crowdfunding platform.
On its Facebook page, the Skarp company told its supporters not to worry and promised that the laser razor would be available in the spring.
"They are incredibly helpful and believe in the laser razor as much as we do," Skarp said on Indiegogo.
Last week, Skarp released a nine-minute video on Kickstarter to address backers' concerns about the product, which included safety features and battery life.
Some people who commented on the initial funding page had expressed concerns about the venture itself, and a post on Reddit questioned the device's technology, calling it "dumbed down.".
Oliver Pearce-Owen, Technical Director at Skarp, said that Kickstarter's decision left tens of thousands of people quite disappointed.
