Philips has announced the new Hue Bridge 2.0 model, its updated device that will now support Apple's HomeKit as well as Apple's Siri voice control.
Some of the new features available with the Philips Hue Bridge have already been released.
The new Hue Bridge 2.0 model seamlessly integrates existing and upcoming Philips Hue bulbs and fixtures to take advantage of all of Apple's HomeKit features and works seamlessly with other HomeKit-enabled devices. Through the Hue app 1.10, the new Hue Bridge 2.0 will be able to support multiple home platforms that can connect to it, now and in the future, including Apple and iOS HomeKit 9. Imagine asking Siri to dim the lights by simply saying “Siri, dim the table lamp to 30 percent” or brighten a specific room by saying “Siri, turn on the bathroom light.” You can even recall a favorite moment like Sunset by simply saying “Sunset Mode.” The new, square-shaped Philips Hue Bridge 2.0 is compatible with the Philips Hue app as well as other apps, including those that support HomeKit.
You'll be able to use your Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, or iPad Touch to control devices connected to the new Hue Bridge 2.0, using Siri, and other apps.
The company announced that the new Hue Bridge 2.0 will be released in the US and Europe starting tomorrow.
