Facebook ofannouncements to regulate the online community's policy regarding the protection of users regarding revenge porn, bullying and other threats aimed at online harassment of users.
“We will have zero tolerance for any behavior that puts people at risk, whether it’s organizing or advocating violence, even off Facebook, or intimidating other people,” said Monika Bickert, the site’s head of terms of service, and Justin Osofsky, vice president of global operations.
Facebook will remove content that is alleged to intentionally target individuals with the intent to humiliate or embarrass them, or that threatens or promotes sexual violence or exploitation. It will also remove serious threats to public figures, as well as hate speech.
The new policies also include Facebook's cooperation with authorities when it is considered that there is a real risk of physical violence or immediate threats to public safety. This also extends to offers of sexual services.
However, Facebook people will not search the social network for content that violates the rules. There will still be a system of reports from users who receive or discover such violations, which they will report, along with the reasons for making the report, and then Facebook will decide whether to remove the content or not.
The big problem for the social network is the validity and seriousness of the messages. Some messages may be posted just for fun, so they should not be reported, but on the other hand, in case there is a real threat that leads to violence, then the social network will have a problem if it has not reported the corresponding messages to the authorities.
According to February statistics, every minute about 300,000 status messages are changed and 136,000 photos are uploaded. Monitoring is quite a challenge.
