Apple suppliers appear to have started production of next-generation iPad Air with anti-reflective coating

iPad

Citing sources from Apple's supply chain, Bloomberg reports that Apple suppliers in Asia have begun mass production of the next-generation 9.7-inch iPad, while a new iPad mini is entering early stages of assembly.

The larger version, which appears to be the successor to Apple's iPad Air, should be available by the end of the third quarter or early in the fourth quarter, the sources said. Initial availability may be limited, but that's due to manufacturing issues related to the application of the screen's anti-reflective coating, a new feature for Apple. Previous iOS device screens have been limited to oil- and fingerprint-resistant coatings.
