A report by the well-known cybersecurity company Avast revealed that hackers use weak passwords, just like the majority of users worldwide.
Avast analyzed a sample of approximately 40,000 security codes that they collected during their malware in recent years.
Through their analyses, they discovered that only 10% of passwords were above a level that they could not be easily recovered using known methods.
They also discovered that almost none of the passwords contained capital letters, despite constant urging from security experts to use passwords that contain both lowercase and uppercase letters.
Most of the codes were in English and consisted of common words and expressions, often containing variations of the words pass, root , and hax.
The average length of the codes was just six characters , and only 52 were longer than 12 characters.
