Have you ever wondered how much time you spend in front of a screen each day? The study, presented at the Code Conference in California, includes 30 countries and reveals the exact amount of time their residents waste looking at screens of any kind. The results are spectacular and prove once again that technology has not only become part of our lives, but is one of our most essential activities.
The study was conducted by Mr. Millward Brown and the participants are people aged 16 to 44. Its goal was to demonstrate that the internet and the general relationship between humans and technology is developing and strengthening on a global scale.
According to the research data, the average person spends 6 hours and 50 minutes every day in front of any screen. All the participating countries, without exception, showed that they have a… good relationship with technology. What differs between each country, however, is the device that its citizens prefer. Some countries “love” television more, others the computer and the most… modernized ones turn to smartphones and tablets.
Indonesia is the screen-watching champion, with its residents spending around 9 hours a day staring at a device. This means they spend over a third of their day this way. On the other hand, Italians spend just over 5 hours a day on their electronic devices.
Among devices, smartphones "win" the battle by taking up more time than the others. From there, the television and the computer fight for second place, while tablets are used much less than the other devices.
