A new service will let your online friends know exactly where you are
Facebook users in the US will soon be able to see which of their friends are nearby, using a new app that gives them..
"Nearby Friends" of course assumes that the user has activated it, since Facebook is not going to share with the public information that the user himself does not wish.
More specifically, through the smartphone's GPS system, everyone will be able to find out which of their friends are near them - once the service is activated - and also inform them of their location with greater accuracy.
It also allows you to share your exact location only with specific Facebook friends, and this will also be available for about an hour – although there will be a preset that can change this!
"Nearby Friends" was launched due to the growing popularity of location-based mobile apps, but unlike those apps, Facebook will only notify people you're already friends with.
