Landmark Admin has issued an update on its investigation into the data breach it suffered in May 2024, increasing the number of people affected to 1.6 million.

Landmark, based in Texas, is a third-party provider (TPA) that manages policy logistics, regulatory reporting, reinsurance support and information systems for large national insurance companies such as Liberty Bankers Life and American Benefit Life.
In October 2024, the company announced that it had detected suspicious activity on its networks on May 13, 2024.
The unauthorized access is estimated to have exposed the personal data of 806,519 individuals, including:
- Full name
- Residential address
- Social Security Number
- Tax Registration Number
- Driving license number
- State ID number
- Passport number
- Financial account number
- Medical information
- Date of birth
- Health insurance number
- Information about life and annuity contracts

The exact types of data exposed vary depending on the individual, and Landmark Admin promised to notify each affected person with a personalized letter specifying which data was compromised.
In a more recent filing with the Attorney General's office, Landmark Admin says its investigation has revealed that the actual number of people affected by the breach is higher, now estimated at 1,613,773. The company notes that the forensic investigation is still ongoing, meaning the final number may increase further and be revised multiple times in the future.
Recipients of the data breach have 90 days from receipt of the letter to raise questions or concerns via a dedicated support hotline. Landmark also offers 12 months of identity theft protection and credit monitoring services to help reduce the risk and consequences of sensitive data exposure. Recommendations include regularly monitoring credit reports, as well as placing a fraud alert and/or security freeze on accounts.
