ConnectOnCall is notifying more than 900,000 people that their personal and medical information was affected by a data breach earlier this year .

A digital, on-call answering solution, ConnectOnCall enables healthcare providers to manage after-hours calls and simplify patient communication and care coordination.
The recently disclosed breach, ConnectOnCall says, was discovered on May 12 and affected information related to communication between patients and healthcare providers using its service.
Potentially compromised information includes names, phone numbers , and may also include dates of birth, social security numbers, medical record numbers , and health, treatment, and prescription information.

According to ConnectOnCall, an unknown threat actor gained access to its service and in-app data on February 16, 2024 , and remained in the system until May 12, 2024.
ConnectOnCall notified law enforcement, immediately took the service offline, and worked to restore it to a more secure environment.
Last week, the company began sending written letters to affected individuals for whom a mailing address was available to inform them of the incident. Free identity and credit monitoring services have been provided to those whose Social Security numbers were compromised
ConnectOnCall told the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that 914,138 people were affected by the data breach.
