In a new initiative to improve user experience, Google is piloting a new upgrade to its Chrome browser for Android.

The tech giant is addressing an issue that has long been a concern for users: the problem of unwanted website notifications. The solution? A one-tap “unsubscribe” button that instantly lets Chrome users remove all notifications from a particular website.

One-tap unsubscribe button in Chrome: Overview
The new one-tap unsubscribe button replaces the previous, more complicated process of managing notification permissions in Chrome. This new feature simplifies the process by being built directly into the notification itself, providing a quick and convenient way. To prevent accidental clicks, the feature also includes an additional prompt to undo the action.
Testing and availability
As of January 29, this feature has been made available on an experimental basis to 50% of Chrome Canary. While Google has not yet revealed the exact timeline for the release of this feature in the stable version of Google Chrome, it is expected to be available to all Android users in the future.
Other UI improvements in Pipeline
In addition to the one-tap unsubscribe button, Google is also testing other improvements to the Chrome user experience. These include setting the browser as the default PDF reader on desktop versions and adding a Read Aloud feature for Android, which will be available in Chrome 122
