CES 2024 is just around the corner, and tech companies have already started giving us a sneak peek at what’s to come in Las Vegas. LG is showing off a slew of interesting and bizarre gadgets, including the recently announced DukeBox from LG Labs. This audio device combines traditional valve sound with transparent OLED panel technology.
Valve sound, present for more than 100 years, is beloved for its ability to produce a warm sound that brings out any musical instrument, creating the feeling that the musicians are playing live. TheDukeBox takes advantage of this technology along with front-firing speakers and top-firing rotary speakers. The valve tubes remain visible, adding an extra retro character, while the transparency of the OLED display is adjustable.

The DukeBox is similar to a smart speaker for those who want a more stylish, retro design. While it’s reminiscent of old-school record players, this device isn’t just limited to music. It has the ability to play content like movies or even create a “fire” with the tubes visible along the flame.
LG announced that its CES 2024 labs area will be twice the size of last year’s space. Other announcements include a two-legged robot, laptops with AI features, and the CineBeam Qube, a 4K projector with 3,840 x 2,160-inch resolution images that reach up to 120. The three-pound device also features image display and a handle that could be thought of as a moving grip. Although LG has scheduled a press conference for CES 2024, the company tends to announce many of its products in the days and weeks leading up to CES.

Neither the DukeBox nor the CineBeam Qube currently have a definitive release date or price. Further information is expected to be announced by LG during CES, which will also provide an opportunity for early impressions and testing of the products' quality.
