Qualcomm , Samsung , and Google announced their collaboration to build an (XR) headset during the Unpacked event.
According to new reports from Upload VR and Korean newspaper The JoonAng, the XR alliance consisting of Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm to build a VR Headset has encountered some difficulties and delayed the product's launch.
According to JoonAng, Samsung has ordered higher- resolution from Samsung Display for its XR headphones to match the impressive 4K-in-each-eye (8K) displays Apple in the Vision Pro, which are made by Sony. This has led to a delay in the announcement of Samsung's headphones from early 2024 to mid-2024, so the headphones are expected to launch towards the end of the year.

According to JoonAng's sources, it is reported that Samsung's headphone production is targeting a modest 30,000 units for 2024. Correspondingly, Apple's production targets appear to have been reduced from 1 million to 400,000 units for 2024 for the Vision Pro model.
On the other hand, Samsung announced that its new headset will be released in late 2024. This update has been made known to developers.
This information joins a number of reports that have surfaced this summer suggesting that Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm are back in the spotlight after Apple announced the Vision Pro at WWDC in June. The Vision Pro impressed the industry with its high-end specs. However, as early as its Unpacked event in July, Samsung revealed that an announcement of headset was “not far off.”
Samsung is developing the hardware for the XR headset, while Google is working on a version of Android. The Meta Quest 3 headset, which was released in October, has an underlying Qualcomm chip, likely the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Platform.
