Samsung 's next Fan Edition (FE) smartphone finally has an official release date. The company has confirmed that the Galaxy S23 FE will debut this Wednesday, October 4. The confirmation comes via Samsung India's X/Twitter page . It's not yet clear whether the device will be released globally on the same day or if the Korean company will announce its launch in other markets separately.
Samsung reveals Galaxy S23 FE release date
It’s been almost two years since Samsung introduced an FE phone. The Galaxy S21 FE, which arrived in January 2022, is the latest model in the series. In contrast, the company didn’t release a Galaxy S22 FE. While we haven’t received an official explanation from the Korean company, rumors suggest that the delayed launch of the previous model led to its cancellation. A global semiconductor shortage in 2021 affected the launch of the Galaxy S21 FE by several months.

Samsung is rumored to have ditched the FE series altogether, but instead, it has decided to discontinue the Galaxy A7x series. The Galaxy A74 didn't launch this year, while the Galaxy S23 FE is set to debut in a few days. The image on Samsung India's X homepage confirms that "The New Epic" will be launching on October 4. If you recall, that's the tagline used in Korea to tease the new FE phone.
Interestingly, only Samsung India is moving towards the Galaxy S23 FE. Moreover, the company is also working on new FE tablets and headphones, which are expected to be officially announced this week. These launches come just in time for the festive season sales underway in the country. The two largest e-commerce platforms , Amazon and Flipkart , have announced their respective sales events that will take place from Sunday, October 8.
This makes us wonder if the Galaxy S23 FE will be launched exclusively in India this week. There are rumors of a gradual release of the phone until early 2024. The device is presented as a decent mid-range proposition, especially with the expected $100 price cut. Samsung could benefit from a global launch within a week or two, if not the same day.

The device will be available with two different chipsets
The Indian version of the Galaxy S23 FE will differ from the US version in terms of the chipset it uses. Specifically, markets in Europe, Africa, and other regions will be equipped with Samsung's in-house Exynos 2200 SoC . On the other hand, markets in the US, Canada, and China will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The rest of the specifications will remain unchanged.
