The data is based on reports from Blind members about their pay from January of last year to the current month. While public companies are required to report the average annual salary of all their employees compared to CEO , this kind of level-specific pay data is guarded, unless you’re applying for a specific job. Blind is an anonymous platform, but it does require people to prove they work using email .

"Meta engineers seem to level up faster and have some of the highest pay."
"Microsoft offers a lot of software, which may give it more flexibility in promotions. However, their overall salary is lower than their competitors across all job titles, up to the top engineering staff."

According to Levels.fyi, the amount private tech companies pay their employees depends on their experience. For example, a L5 engineer at OpenAI can earn over $900,000 (about €833,000) per year!
