For the sixth consecutive day, the servers of AIIMS in Delhi are down after hackers demanded 200 million rupees in crypto.
On Monday, official sources claimed that hackers demanded around 200 million rupees in cryptocurrency from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhiafter the server was down for six consecutive days.
They fear that the data of around 3-4 million patients could have been compromised due to the breach detected on Wednesday morning.
Since the server is down, patient care services in the emergency wards, outpatient clinics, hospitals, and laboratories are currently managed manually.
According to Delhi Police, AIIMS authorities have not received any ransom demand, contrary to what some media outlets are reporting. CERT-IN , Delhi Police and Home Ministry officials are investigating the ransomware attack.
The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of Delhi Police registered a case of extortion and cyber terrorism on November 25.
According to official sources, the hospital has blocked internet access to computers following recommendations from investigative services.
The data of VIPs, including former prime ministers, ministers, bureaucrats and judges, is stored on the AIIMS.

The restoration of data and cleaning of servers is taking more time than usual due to the AIIMS with a large number of servers for the hospital's services, the institution said on Monday.
The database and application servers of NIC e-hospital have been restored. The NIC is scanning and cleaning the infections from other servers located at AIIMS, which are essential for providing hospital services, an official source said.
They have scanned and prepared four physical servers to restore e-hospital services for databases and applications.
Additionally, the AIIMS network sanitization is underway . Antivirus software has been downloaded for the servers and computers. It has been installed on nearly 1,200 out of 5,000 computers. Twenty out of 50 servers have been scanned and this activity is going on 24×7, according to the source.
The source said that the network will likely continue to be fully cleaned for another five days, after which e-hospital can be implemented again slowly. services , including emergency, outpatient, inpatient, laboratory, etc. are currently still being done manually.
