Anonymous started #OpIcarus, an operation that targets the global banking system. Their first target was the Bank of Greece, with DDoS attacks that began yesterday and were first reported by SecNews.gr.
With Operation Icarus (Op Icarus) Anonymous has planned DDoS attacks in four modules.
These include websites belonging to the US Federal Reserve Bank, the second section is for IMF (International Monetary Fund) target pages, the third is for websites belonging to the World Bank, and the fourth includes 158 national banks. In the last section, there are banks from all over the world, even from underdeveloped countries.
The first bank to be hit by DDoS attacks was the Bank of Greece as mentioned above, but the group seems to have higher targets.
"We must strike at the heart of their empire, .... the global financial system. This time our target is the New York Stock Exchange, and the Bank of England," Anonymous says in the video below.
