Meet Samsung's stunning new Galaxy A8 and A8+ (2018)

The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018) feature a dual front camera system (16MP FF f/1.9 and 8MP f/1.9) as well as larger displays, features inherited from Samsung's notable flagship design. While the Galaxy A8 (2018) comes with a 5.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display and a resolution of 1080×2220 pixels, the Galaxy A8+ (2018) features a 6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with the same resolution.

“With the launch of the Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018), we bring our customers’ favorite features like the Infinity Display and our first Dual Front Camera with Live Focus to the Galaxy A family that is already known for its high-quality design,” said a Samsung spokesperson.

Both devices are powered by an Octa-Core processor (2.2GHz Dual + 1.6GHz Hexa) and feature 4GB of RAM, although the Galaxy A8+ (2018) also comes with a 6GB RAM variant. Additionally, both models offer two storage options, 32GB and 64GB. They also feature Samsung’s latest fast charging technologies and USB Type-C support.

In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018) feature LTE Cat. 11, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz) support, Bluetooth 5.0 LE (Low Energy) up to 2Mbps, NFC, VHT80, 256QAM, ANT+, and GPS with GLONASS and BeiDou support. It should be noted that both models are powered by Google's Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system as Samsung is still testing Android 8.0 Oreo.

Among other features, we can mention the Always On Display to stay informed, support for Samsung Pay, the Samsung Gear VR headset, and IP68 water and dust resistance.

 One key difference is that the Galaxy A8 (2018) offers a 3,000mAh battery while the Galaxy A8+ (2018) has a larger 3,500mAh one.

They will be available from early January 2018.
