Following a relevant order from the Volos First Instance Prosecutor's Office, the identity details and photographs of two individuals arrested on February 21 in Volos and Thessaloniki for child pornography and attempted sexual assault via the internet have been made public. They are Giorgos Efstathiadis, son of Dimitrios and Sofia, born on 14-11-1972 in Ptolemaida... and Osoja Xjenaldo, son of Qazim and Vitrina, born on 20-01-1998 in Albania...
As the police announced: "This specific publication aims to protect society as a whole and facilitate the realization of the State's claim for the punishment of the above offenses. Any citizen who knows anything about the illegal activity of the above individuals is asked to contact the Volos Security Sub-Directorate at the following numbers: 24210 - 76957 and 24210 - 76955. It is recalled that anonymity and confidentiality of communication are ensured.".
As was ascertained in the context of a thorough police investigation, the two perpetrators, having created a profile on a social networking website with false information, approached a 17-year-old and communicated with him in order to convince him either to send them personal photos with obscene content or to accept proposals involving lewd acts in exchange for a sum of money.
After immediate mobilization and coordinated actions by the police officers of the Volos Security Sub-Directorate, the 19-year-old was arrested in Volos, where he had gone to pick up the 17-year-old, with the aim of then going to a hotel in Thessaloniki, where the 45-year-old was waiting for them.
Subsequently, police officers from the Northern Greece Cybercrime Sub-Directorate located the 45-year-old at the hotel and arrested him. Two mobile phones were found and confiscated in the possession of the arrested persons
