Android: delete Facebook and you will get +20% battery life

Facebook continues to have a problem with its Android app development. Facebook's central product officer, Chris Cox, is even encouraging his staff to use Android devices in order to see the problem firsthand, understand it, and find a solution.

What problem are we talking about? Of course, battery life.

This issue has been reported on Android Central since January, specifically for the Facebook app, but it seems that others are still testing the validity of the claims about reduced battery life. facebook battery

Ashu of TWZ (Tech World Zone) decided to try it out on his device, and found that his Android's performance and battery life improved dramatically when he completely removed the Facebook app from his phone.

A group of Redditors then started conducting their own tests, and everyone was thrilled with the dramatically improved battery performance when they deleted the app.

The TWZ writer even tested the Metal app for Android, which is simply a wrapper for Facebook's mobile website. Using a Huawei Nexus 6P for the test, the phone had 20% more battery life during the day. This continued for a week, the duration of the tests.

TWZ contacted the company and a representative responded:

“We have heard reports from a few people experiencing speed issues originating from our Android app. We are investigating the issue and will update you as soon as possible.”

The company spokesperson did not mention anything about battery life.
