The Greek WordPress community is pleased to officially announce to you, my dears, that the first WordCamp Athens 2016 is a fact. The conference will be a two-day event, with talks and a contributors day, and will take place at the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens, in Gazi, on November 19 & 20, 2016. About 40% of the sites you read every day are built on the open source WordPress. WordCamps are the official WordPress conferences held in every major city in the world. At WordCamps, we discuss a variety of topics: web, development, design, social media, startups, e-commerce, blogging, and more. WordCampsare supported and organized worldwide by the WordPress Foundation - the official non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the openness of WordPress.
A WordCamp is for everyone involved with WordPress, at all levels and levels of knowledge. The conference is aimed at any internet user interested in learning about developments around WordPress, without any restrictions: web developers, web designers, bloggers, journalists, content editors, web editors, social media managers and many other specialties are just some of the categories of professionals to whom the conference is addressed.
WordCamp Athens 2016is organized by volunteers of the WordPress Greek Community from all over Greece and under the auspices of the WordPress Foundation. Specifically, 15 members of the community, who formed the WordCamp Athens organizing team, shared responsibilities and are working day and night to implement the conference.
WordCamp Athens 2016 How is it funded?
The WordPress Foundation is a valuable partner and supporter of our effort. Thus, WordCamp Athens 2016 is funded a) by the official sponsors and supporters of the WordPress Foundation b) by its ticket revenues and c) by domestic financial donations or service offerings from companies operating in Greece.
For this reason, 5 sponsorship packages have been created, from which each interested party can choose which one they want to support the conference with. You can read more about the sponsorship packages here.
The conference venue
Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens is a central cultural multi-purpose space that aims to promote the arts, development, entrepreneurship, innovation, education, lifelong learning for people of all ages, the promotion of industrial heritage and public awareness of social issues.
It is now a meeting point for cultural events in one of the most important industrial monuments, upgrading a historic area of the capital and creating another positive pole in the cultural identity of Athens. It offers entertainment, educational and cultural activities of high quality, while also supporting the social work of the city's most important institutions.
