Upgrades to Windows 10 are increasing, there is no doubt about that, but in the last month, the new operating system managed to grow its adoption numbers even more.
May was a month full of reviews that targeted the very aggressive policy of Windows 10 by Microsoft. This arose mainly because many users were forced to upgrade to the new operating system as the company left them no other choice. 
There were claims that Microsoft automatically scheduled the upgrade to Windows 10 on a large number of computers, while others complained that the upgrade window had no cancellation options.
As it turns out, this tactic is bearing fruit, as Windows 10 managed to increase its share to record levels in the last month.
The data provided by StatCounter for the month of May show that, worldwide, Windows 10 managed to reach 19.98 percent of the market share, while Windows 7 still leads with 43.28 percent. All other operating systems, Windows or not, are far behind and below 10%.
In Europe, Windows 10 has a much better share and is already at 24.58%, but still lags behind Windows 7, which dominate the charts with 38.98%.
Mac OS X is in third place with 11.21%. The difference between Windows 10 and Windows 7 in the Old Peninsula is therefore smaller, which means that the reversal of positions could occur earlier in Europe than in other markets.
In North America, Windows 7 runs at 36,7% of computers while Windows 10 leads with 22,64 percent. OS X is also again in third place with 15,77 percent.
However, the huge Asian market is what determines the winners: Asia is the only market where Windows 10 still has very low numbers, as Windows 7 powers 50.8 percent of local computers. Microsoft's new operating system comes in second with only 15.25%, and is close to Windows XP, which still runs on 9.2% of computers.
