Why the new Nexus are called 6P and 5X

After the unveiling of the new Nexus 6P and 5X devices two days ago, everyone wondered why Google chose to drop support for wireless charging, since it was a widely accepted feature in previous Nexus devices, such as LG's Nexus 4, which was released almost three years ago.google nexus

In a "Ask me Anything" on Reddit, several Google technicians responsible for building the devices answered questions from redditors, enlightening us on the subject.

The development team says that the company's desire was to keep the device as slim as possible, and they also mentioned the benefits of USB Type-C which will make wired charging more attractive than it was in the past.

You may ask yourself, why not both? Obviously the extra thickness was the reason. One of the team members reported:

"Charging is incredibly fast: from 1% to 100% in 97 minutes on the 6P for example (in the first ~45 minutes charging is particularly fast).
Meanwhile, wireless charging adds z (thickness) and so, the ease of connection and fast charging as well as optimization for thinness made us choose Type-C over wireless!"

Now about the naming of the devices, to put it simply, the "P" is from Premium (no it's not from phablet) and the X is supposed to represent the "core Nexus" and also because "it sounds Cool!."
