It is an interactive house designed and already being built by the Spanish architecture firm Think Big Factory, based in Madrid.
For internet addicts, the futuristic home is a "paradise", since the walls, floors and all surfaces are transformed into touch screens with the help of projectors and Microsoft's Kinect sensors, allowing residents to "log in" to Facebook at any time and make video calls on Skype with their friends, who now appear in real size on the wall-screens.
The entire Openarch digital home is controlled by residents from anywhere (even when they are lying in bed!) either vocally or through gestures, which are "understood" by the wall-screens, the electrical and electronic systems, as well as the various devices (lighting, washing machines, televisions, stereos, etc.).
As Think Big Factory director Ion Cuervas-Morris stated, "the hardware is complete and the software remains to be completed. Anything in the home can be used for communication as the interfaces are everywhere.".
The system is intended to replace the keyboards and remote controls needed to interact with technology, as most of the installation is invisible.
The first tenant has already moved into the experimental home and is using some of the spaces, allowing designers to learn and make improvements.
The central interface is located in the living room, where the occupant can access social networks, read magazines or listen to music with just a few gestures.
The program began three years ago and so far 40% of the applications are operational, with the company hoping that very soon all the software will be completed and the development of various products that the tenant will be able to use will begin.
