An Apple Store in Colorado was targeted in a robbery early Saturday morning. The robber with three rocks broke through the store's $100,000 handmade doors and stole $64,000 worth of merchandise, including MacBooks, iPads and iPhones.

According to ABC 7 News, some of the computers he stole were worth over $2,000 and will likely be sold by the thief for much less.

Apple Stores have become popular targets for robberies in recent years. The demand for Mac and iOS devices makes them easy to sell on the black market, while the glass doors of Apple Stores are easily broken, allowing almost anyone to break in and steal.

“Apple is like gold. It’s easy to sell their products,” said Rick Levitt, president of Macintosh Computer iTech, an Apple repair shop. “The way the economy is, people need money, so they steal things like that.”

In January, armed masked robbers broke into an Apple Store in Paris, stealing $1.3 million worth of items. Before that, a New York airport employee was arrested for being an accomplice in a robbery that resulted in the theft of $1.5 million worth of iPad minis.

Apple has made it easy to locate devices once they are opened and set up by the user, but when they are still in their box and closed, no one can locate them.
