Amazon recently decided to remove its Windows Phone app, but that doesn't necessarily mean the company plans to give up on Windows 10 entirely. Amazon just released a browser extension for Microsoft Edge that allows users to access the service without having to actually load the page, giving them quick access to features like Amazon Music, lists, orders, and deals.
Additionally, the Amazon Assistant extension acts as a real digital assistant and lets you know any valuable information that is available to you, such as details about your package’s shipping – this is a feature that will be added in a future update, so far the assistant only notifies you about offers and nothing else.
What is important to know is that Amazon’s browser extension is only available to members of the Windows Insider program because it needs support for extensions in Microsoft Edge. For now, the extensions only work for those enrolled in the testing program, but they are scheduled to be available for everyone on August 2.
Now as for whether we will see a full-fledged Windows 10 app from Amazon, there is no indication yet, as the company prefers to focus on other platforms, including Android and iOS. This seems to have become a trend these days, but fortunately Amazon at least provides a browser extension for Windows users.
