A team of German computer scientists has created new software that only needs a camera and a 15-second YouTubeto make someone appear to say anything realistically.
According to scientists, the software works in such a way that the person in the video clip can say anything they want.
Basically, scientists have invented software that can manipulate any face in a video clip without the use of any 3D camera. All the scientists need is a 10-second video clip of the face they want to manipulate, where the target shows a variety of emotions. From this video, their program draws a 3D model.
Once this 3D model is formed, the program maps the other person's movements onto that model. For example, the software first makes a 3D model of Donald Trump and then matches your lip movements to Trump's. Once this is achieved, Trump will say whatever you want and no one will be able to tell the difference.
Scientists note that the face we want to use in the 10-second clip should be expressive in order for the result to be 100% realistic. They say that a face like Vladimir Putin's will be more difficult to look realistic, because he essentially speaks in a very monotone and expressionless tone.
This software has a huge following because movie studios are already spending millions of dollars to acquire the rights to it.
