Since being acquired by Google , Boston Dynamics ' progress has been nothing short of impressive, with the robotics company first gaining attention with its significantly improved version of Atlas ( a humanoid robot that now balances on one leg ) and now with Spot, a robotic dog that has the ability to move comfortably on different types of terrain.
Spot is a robot with four legs (electric and hydraulic), designed for operation indoors and outdoors, with special sensors on its head for navigation and recognition of uneven terrain. It weighs approximately 72kg. See it in action in the video below:
