Sfakianakis became a subject of the FBI

"√œ'Ã≈Õ…'"¡ - "Ã≈—…ƒ¡ √…¡ '«Õ ¡"÷¡À« –Àœ«√«”« ”'œ ƒ…¡ƒ… ''œ (EUROKINISSI // ”'Õ≈—√¡'“”)The United States recognizes the "important role" of Greece in the wider Southeast Mediterranean region, CIA John Brennanthe Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection, Vassilis Kikilias.

During the second day of his visit to Washington, Mr. Kikilias had separate meetings with Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Brennan and FBI James Comey.

At the meeting with Mr. Brennan, the two sides expressed satisfaction with the results of bilateral cooperation so far, as well as a desire for its continuation and further strengthening on terrorism issues.

The CIA director recognized "Greece's important role as a factor of stability in the wider Southeast Mediterranean region" and expressed his and the American side's readiness to provide "every possible assistance"to the country's efforts in security matters.

The Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection, in turn, confirmed Greece's commitment to addressing "modern security threats" and, referring to global crime and illegal immigration, Mr. Kikilias exchanged views on how to address them more effectively.

In the meeting with FBI Director James Comey, the two sides confirmed the "excellent level" of their cooperation in combating organized crime. Particular emphasis was placed on the dangers of the internet and cybercrime, and mention was made of the recent successes of Manos Sfakianakis' Cybercrime Enforcement Directorate and the pioneering CyberKid and CyberAlert applications.

Mr. Kikilias will conclude his contacts in the American capital on Thursday with meetings at the White House and the State Department.
