Seminar successfully completed for safe internet browsing, for the students of the National School of Judicial Officers, at the Thessaloniki Court of First Instance
The Hellenic Police's Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate organized today (13-6-2014), at the headquarters of the Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki, a seminar as part of an educational visit of students of the 19thseries of the National School of Judicial Officers.
At the symposium participated the Head of the Cybercrime Investigation Directorate, Colonel Emmanuel Sfakianakis, as well as other specialized officers of the Cybercrime Investigation Directorate, who informed the School's students both about Internet legislation and about safe navigation on the Internet, as well as about the risks that lurk in it, alongside practical online investigation practices.
The thematic units that were developed during the conduct of the symposium were:
- The mission of the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate.
- The crimes and the way they are committed via the internet, as well as in investigative practices and prevention.
- Cyber legislation.
- The phenomena of online violence, the dangers lurking from social networking sites, and generally the prevention and handling of risks associated with new technologies.
- Statistical data concerning the penetration of Greeks on the internet and the cases that Cybercrime Prosecution has to deal with daily.
The aim of the symposium was to familiarize young judges and prosecutors with Internet legislation, as well as the actions of the Cybercrime Unit regarding issues that arise during case investigations.
Additionally, the activity of the Cybercrime Unit was presented, which includes prevention, investigation and suppression of crimes and anti‑social behaviors committed via the internet or other electronic communication media.
