Retail sales of Windows 8 will officially end on October 31st, while Microsoft continues its efforts to get all users to switch to Windows 8.1.
As noted, Windows was recently updated to state that the sale of Windows 8 should stop this year, while the date on which the end of sales of computers with Windows 8 pre-installed will come has not yet been determined.
However, by October, everyone still running Windows 8 will need to install Windows 8.1, the free update offered to all users through the built-in store.
Windows 8.1 brings many improvements, including the Start button, new Start screen customization options, performance improvements, and a significantly improved Modern experience.
