Internet users are being urged to be particularly wary of emails purporting to offer jobs at Australia's largest airline, Qantas Airlines.
According to Hoax Slayer, the messages do not originate from Australia's Qantas. Instead, they are part of a well-designed online scam aimed at tricking unsuspecting users into giving away their personal information and extorting money.
The scam message states:
“Dear Sir/Madam, Qantas Airline is a leading international airline with over 10,000 international employees worldwide. We are proud of Qantas’ presence in many different countries around the world. Our national and international crews operate over 900 flights each week, often on the new A380 aircraft.”.
“Our flight attendants are genuine, sociable and interesting people who enhance the company’s brand. Working with Qantas is a great opportunity for anyone to join our dynamic team environment. Meeting new people is a daily occurrence and travelling to unique international destinations introduces an exciting new way of life.”.
A total of 39 types of jobs at Qantas are being promoted through the misleading emails and promise users a 5-year renewable contract.
Interested candidates are invited to send their CV to: qantasoffice@globomail.com. The scammers then contact the candidates and ask them to pay certain fees in advance, which are supposed to be fully refunded after recruitment.
