McDonalds suffered an IT outage at some of its stores, leaving customers unable to place food orders .

On Friday morning, customers from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Japan complained about problems they encountered when purchasing products from the fast food giant on social media.

McDonald's said it was aware of the problem and was working to fix it. The problems are not related to a cyberattack.
In Japan, the company apologized to customers via social media and said they might have to wait a while until the problem, which was described as a "system error," was addressed.
In the UK, many customers reported on social media that their local restaurants were closed, even though they could order through the company's app.
Some customers reported that restaurants only accepted cash and that orders were recorded by hand on paper.
