Shokz has been making bone conduction headphones for years, and one of its favorite products is the OpenRun Pro. However, one of its more specialized models, the Xtrainerz, was released in 2019. It’s a bone conduction headphone with an IP68 waterproof rating, 4GB of storage, and no Bluetooth connectivity. Originally intended for general use, with an emphasis on swimmers, it was recently rebranded as the OpenSwim. At this year’s CES 2024 in Las Vegas, the company announced its improved successor, the OpenSwim Pro, which now supports Bluetooth 5.3 and has 32GB of storage.

The big change is that the OpenSwim Pro supports general use, as it includes Bluetooth, removing the restriction for swimming or triathlon. They also have more built-in memory, from 4GB to 32GB. The battery offers nine hours of life (an hour more than the previous model), and supports fast charging, although details have not yet been announced. The sound quality remains high, and although it does not reach the levels of the OpenRun Pro in bass due to the design, the OpenSwim Pro adds microphones, something that was absent in the OpenSwim series and comes as a welcome addition.
