We all know that Google Chrome is the most popular browser and has the largest market share. As shown by StatCounter, Safari remains the second most used desktop browser, as of January 2022, but two of its competitors are very close to taking second place this time.
Safari is currently used by 9.84% of desktop users, but Microsoft Edge is right behind, with a 9.54% market share. Furthermore, the Firefox browser, which had just an 8.1% share in January 2021, seems to have gained new users in recent months and now holds 9.18% of the desktop market share. As expected, Google Chrome is still in first place with a 65.38% share.

In comparison, 10.38% of desktop users used the Safari browser in January 2021, suggesting that Apple's browser has been losing ground recently while its competitors have gained ground. If Safari continues to lose users, it will likely fall to third or fourth place in the rankings in the coming months.

In the US market, Safari browser still has an advantage over Microsoft Edge with 18.12% vs. 12.09%, respectively. However, Apple's browser has already lost second place (in the desktop category) in Europe. It is worth noting that Safari is only available on macOS (when it comes to desktop computers), while other browsers can be installed on both Mac and Windows computers.
