After the announcement of the U Ultra and U Play, HTC has started intensive work on the HTC Ocean. Recent reports reveal that the new smartphone will come with a 5.5-inch Super LCD display as well as IP57 certification.
HTC's new flagship will be IP57 certified, meaning it can be submerged in 3.3 kilometers of water for 30 minutes without damage. This certification also ensures high protection against damage caused by particles larger than 1mm.
Another interesting piece of information is that the HTC U will likely not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, just like Apple's iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and Motorola's Moto Z.
More and more smartphone manufacturers are ditching the headphone jack on their new devices, leaving some users quite unhappy. Motorola is rumored to be bringing back the 3.5mm jack on this year's Moto Z2 Force, satisfying users who aren't fans of the USB Type-C that came with the flagship.
Previous rumors about the HTC U reveal that the new flagship will feature a 5.5-inch Super LCD display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution while running on Qualcomm's latest platform, the Snapdragon 835 along with 4GB of RAM.
The new smartphone will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery, while the internal memory will be 64GB. The rear camera is 12MP while the secondary one is 16MP.
One of the phone's strengths is the Edge Sense touch panel that allows users to perform various actions using gestures.
