This weekend, Microsoft, with a blog post, caused a stir among users hoping to get a free Windows 10 license. 
The company essentially revealed that Windows Insiders running preview builds on their computers could get the final (RTM) version of the operating system for free as long as they used a company account.
iGuRu.gr was one of the first websites to publish the news, but Microsoft seems to have understood what it caused and was quick to change the publication.
In an updated statement published today in the same blog post, Microsoft says that the RTM version will only be available to users who have installed a preview version but whose previous operating system was genuine.
Below is the new amended paragraph
"As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build. Once you have successfully installed this build, you will also be able to clean install on that PC from final media if you want to start over fresh. It's important to note that only people running Genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 can upgrade to Windows 10 as part of the free upgrade offer.*"
“As long as you are using an Insider Preview build and are signed in with a Microsoft account, you will receive Windows 10 final. After successfully installing this build, you will also be able to perform a clean install on that PC if you want to do it from scratch.
It is important to note that only people running genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 can upgrade to Windows 10 final as part of our free upgrade offer.”
The part we have underlined was not in the older publication. So all of you who were happy (including us) should know that in the end nothing changed from what we already knew.
We are starting to believe that Microsoft's ambiguities may be another marketing strategy, only disappointing too many users.
