About a month ago, a rumor surfaced stating that Samsung might unveil the Galaxy Note 7 during Unpacked 2016, which will take place on August 2. The South Korean manufacturer has officially announced the Galaxy Note Unpacked 2016 event and explained why the upcoming Note will be nicknamed “7.”
Samsung said in its announcement that the Galaxy Note 7 will be unveiled during the Unpacked 2016 event in New York City, starting at 11:00 a.m. on August 2. The event will also take place in Rio de Janeiro at noon and in London at 4:00 p.m.
In the press release, Samsung informed us that the New York event will be streamed live on www.samsung.com and Samsung Newsroom.
The company also confirms rumors surrounding its decision to skip the Note 6 and go straight to the Note 7.
Samsung said it wanted to bring the upcoming Note into the same lineup as the Galaxy S devices, as well as minimize confusion, given that some consumers have thought the Note 6 wasn't the last in the series.
The post doesn't provide any details about the upcoming device, other than the fact that it will come with a larger screen and additional features to the S Pen. The S Pen is said to sport a sleek design, a new dictionary, and speech-to-text writing.
Considering that the unveiling is about three weeks away, it won't be long before the rumors are either confirmed or disproven.
