A 40-year-old Dutch man is accused by the Amsterdam prosecutor's office of encouraging almost 400 minors to engage in sexual acts in front of a camera online, the prosecutor's office announced.
"The man, who posed as a little girl, allegedly encouraged minors to engage in sexual acts in front of a camera," said Evert Berstra, a spokesman for the Amsterdam prosecutor's office.
However, the man had no physical contact with his victims, 56 of whom, aged 12 to 14, have been officially identified. So far, five have filed charges.
"The identified victims live in different parts of the country," said Bierstra, adding that Dutch authorities have sent requests to authorities in Belgium, Spain and the US "mainly to obtain information from internet providers.".
During an investigation last April, photos of approximately 400 children and adolescents were found on his computer.
Using various aliases, Michel S. would join various forums and contact his victims. After saving the photos they sent him, he would threaten to upload them to the Internet.
