To further invest in space research and robotics technology

Google has leased a NASA airport to further invest in space research and robotics technology. The American software company announced that its subsidiary, Planetary Ventures, will take over the management of the Moffett Federal Airport.

Until now, Google used the airport for the landing and takeoff of its executives' private jets.

According to NASA, the airport will be used for "the development and testing of space research and new technologies."

Google leased the space for 60 years for $1.16 billion.

"As NASA continually expands its boundaries in space, we are simultaneously attempting to reduce our footprint here on Earth," commented Charles Bolden, one of NASA's leading executives, with humor on the British BBC news website.
