Netflix has started sending emails to owners of older Amazon Fire TV devices, informing them that support for these devices will end next month, according to German outlet Heise. For users in the US, the end of support date is June 3rd.

Amazon spokesperson Jen Lurey Ridingsconfirmed via email that:
Netflix will stop supporting some first-generation Fire TV devices, which were released more than ten years ago. The platform will remain available on all other Fire TV devices.
Lurey Ridings clarified that support will be discontinued for the first-generation Fire TV, the original Fire TV Stick, and the Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote. She also confirmed that users of these devices “may be eligible for a discount on a newer Fire TV Stick model and can contact customer service for more information.”

If you didn't receive the email but want to check if your Fire TV device is among those losing Netflix support, the post says you can check in the "About" section under Settings > My Fire TV .
Netflix’s email reportedly doesn’t explain why support for these devices is being discontinued. However, in a recently added FAQ section to Netflix’s help page (first seen on the Internet Archive on March 15), the company says it may remove its app from Fire TV devices that “can no longer receive necessary updates from their manufacturer or support new features.”

The company has also added new references to error codes R4, R12, and R25-1, which indicate that a device is no longer supported.
