Although the first beta version of iOS 17.5 introduces limited new features, it includes an interesting addition for Apple News+ subscribers : the Quartiles word game .

Quartiles challenges you to combine tiles to form words, racking up points. Each player starts with a grid of 20 tiles, with words that can be formed from one to four tiles.

The term "Quartiles" refers to words made up of four tiles, and if you manage to find all five of them in each puzzle, you earn an additional 40-point bonus. Gadget Hacks provides a more extensive description of the game, delving into the details.
Quartiles is the third game in the puzzle series available through Apple News+, joining the popular Crossword and Crossword Mini. Since the introduction of the iOS 17.5 beta , all three games have now been integrated into Game Center, enriching their experience with leaderboards.
On iPhones that have been upgraded to iOS 17.5 beta, Quartiles is accessible through Apple News, under the following tab → Puzzles. The same game is also available for iPad and Mac users, with iPadOS 17.5 and macOS 14.5 beta respectively.
Apple News+ is accessible in the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. However, it appears that the puzzle games are only available in the US and Canada, at least for now.
