Microsoft has announced the end of support for Windows Subsystem for Android, marking the end of the application in Windows 11.
Microsoft quietly announced that it will be deprecating the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) in next year's Windows 11. Support will officially end on March 5, 2025, and after that date, Android apps will no longer be supported on the operating system.

Here's the message Microsoft posted on a support page for Windows Subsystem for Android (via Windows Central):
Microsoft is ending support for the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA). As a result, the Amazon Appstore on Windows and all apps and games that depend on the WSA will no longer be supported starting March 5, 2025. Until then, technical support will remain available to customers. Customers who installed the Amazon Appstore or Android apps before March 5, 2024 will continue to have access to those apps until the deprecation date of March 5, 2025.
Windows Subsystem for Android was introduced in Windows 11 in the fall of 2021, and Microsoft partnered with Amazon to make a limited selection of apps from the Amazon App Store available on Windows. However, despite several updates, the experience of running Android apps on Windows 11 was never the best. Performance was often poor, and the Amazon App Store was also lacking in the larger apps available on the Google Play Store.

If the Windows Subsystem for Linux in Windows 10 and Windows 11 was a great addition for developers, the Windows Subsystem for Android probably never got any recognition. As Microsoft probably realized, you don't really need Android apps on Windows 11 when native apps and web apps can do a better job. You'd also be surprised if the iPhone and iPad apps and games that Apple offers in the Mac App Store on Apple Silicon Macs have any significant use.”
