Samsung introduced a slew of new features with the launch of the Galaxy S22 series. Now, the company is bringing some of these new camera features to older Galaxy smartphones, including foldables. Samsung will be bringing the OneUI 4.1 update to a slew of older flagships.

According to a post on Samsung’s community, the Galaxy S21, S20, Galaxy Note 20 series, and all Galaxy Z series smartphones, including the Z Fold 2 and Z Flip 5G, are getting the Galaxy S22’s Nitography technology, which brings a night portrait mode to the selfie shooter. The portrait mode is getting another feature – the ability to adjust the lighting position. It will be rolling out to all of the aforementioned devices except the Galaxy S20.
If you own a pet with an older Samsung flagship, smartphone will gain the ability to recognize your pet. Your pets will be recognized by both the front and rear cameras. It will be released for the Galaxy S21, S21 FE, S20 FE, and Galaxy Z Flip 5G alongside the Flip 2, Fold 2, Fold 3, and Flip 3. It will also be available on the Galaxy Note 20.

If you’re someone who shoots a lot of videos on your Samsung smartphone, the company has an important feature for you. The telephoto lens on the Galaxy S21, Z Fold 3, and Galaxy S21 FE will be able to capture portrait videos with the OneUI 4.1 update. The feature lets you capture close-up videos of distant subjects. Director’s View videos from the front and rear cameras can be saved separately and edited later on the Galaxy S21 series, Z Fold 3, and Z Flip 3.

Telephoto lens support is also coming to the Galaxy S21 Ultra in pro video mode, along with Expert Raw. Samsung plans to release these features for the Z Fold 3, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Note 20 Ultra, and Z Fold 2 later this year. The Galaxy S21 series will be able to benefit from Samsung’s partnership with Snapchat, allowing you to enjoy the camera’s features in the social media app. Finally, OneUI 4.1 also brings changes to the location of the camera functions. For example, the “Single Take” feature has been moved to the “More” menu.
