Samsung has officially stated its intention to refurbish some Galaxy Note 7 smartphones with new batteries, which will be sold in certain markets, after discussion with local regulatory agencies and some market viability analysis.
The refurbished Galaxy Note 7 is said to be released in India and Vietnam, although Samsung's local division recently denied the rumors, before the company officially announces the recycling and refurbishment program for Galaxy Note 7 smartphones.
Today leaked images originating from Vietnam show the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 with the code number SM-N935. This means that the model could be sold in the country, given that Samsung is currently collecting its smartphones there.
An interesting piece of information revealed by the images concerns the battery that is inside the refurbished model. Previous rumors reported that the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 would have a smaller battery than the original model, and the leaked image appears to confirm this.
The refurbished Galaxy Note 7 appears to have a new 3,200mAh battery, instead of the explosive 3,500mAh battery that the original models had.
Obviously, the refurbished devices must undergo a deeper quality assurance process, which was necessary for Samsung to ensure that they are safe to use and that they will not suffer the same fate as the original models.
One of the leaked images also shows that the refurbished device runs Android 7.0 Nougat. Let us remind that the original model was released on the market at a price of $850, while the refurbished model will certainly have a much lower price.
