Intel this week launched a new programmable drone, shaped like a shooting star, that is specifically designed to create entertaining light shows!
Intel used 500 of its Shooting Star drones to create a spectacular light show for the launch of its new quad copter that weighs just 280 grams.
Intel has worked with the FAA to obtain a Waiver 107 exemption so that it can fly these drones, as a fleet with a pilot, at night in the US and has equipped its small drone with a super lightweight structure and almost unlimited color combinations. According to the company itself:
“The fleet is easily programmed, assembled and operated to create a beautiful choreography of luminous images in the night sky for a new amazing entertainment experience.
“It required automating the animation creation process using an image as well as quickly calculating the number of drones flown, in order to determine where the drones should be placed and to formulate the shortest path to create the image in the sky.”
