Verizon Communications buys Yahoo for $4.8 billion

The future of Yahoo can be decided today Monday after reports that want Verizon Communications to acquire the company in a $4.8 billion deal.

A Bloomberg publication citing an internal source reports that the deal will be announced before the markets open and will radically change Yahoo's trajectory, which continues to falter after many failed recovery attempts by multiple CEOs. Verizon Communications yahoo

Verizon is said to have won with its offer among the numerous competitors such as the private equity firm TPG, Quicken Loans, and also AT&T.

Paying $4.8 billion for Yahoo, Verizon gave a little more than it had paid for AOL a year earlier, and the deal aims to boost the telecommunications company's advertising and content offerings. Yahoo's Brightroll technology will likely be one of the key points of this agreement.

The final bids from prospective buyers interested in Yahoo were scheduled to be submitted last week.

Yahoο announced for the first time its intention to sell in February as part of a “aggressive strategy plan” as stated by the board of directors.
